King’s College London is represented in the SOURCE network by the Centre for the Study of Political Community in the Department of War Studies. The Department of War Studies has a long tradition of interdisciplinary research on war, violence and security, which is unique in the world. Set up in 2011, the Centre mission is to conduct cutting edge research on practices of (in)security the global context of social, economic and political relations, and their implications for the formation and transformation of political communities. In particular, the Centre members are renowned for the sociological and critical approaches to security, as evidenced in the FP6 project Challenge on ‘The Changing Landscape of Liberty and Security in Europe’ (http://www.libertysecurity.org). The Centre and Department have a vibrant postgraduate community of 250 PhD students and over 400 MA students.
